The No Pain No Gain Paradigm Went Out With the 80's

Pain is a sign something is a message from your body that is telling you something is wrong. So often I find students ignorantly thinking that they must hurt themselves to 'get' something out of the yoga practice More yoga students than ever or getting injured during a group yoga class. Some teachers push them down "to take them deeper into a pose" some people just opt to force themselves. I have private clients with slipped discs, hurt hips, shoulders and necks that they all received during a yoga class!

How do you feel about this concept? Was there a time in your life when you were susceptible to the illusion that physical pain is a good thing? Have you ever hurt yourself practicing yoga? What do you think needs to be done to stop this madness?
